Be Safe: Be Aware of Holiday Hazards
Winter holidays bring our pets into close proximity with dangers present in our everyday lives.
Items such as tinsel, ribbons, rubber bands and string can be swallowed leading to intestinal blockage.
Plants like poinsettias (in large quantities), and especially mistletoe, are toxic, as are chocolate, grapes, cosmetics and coffee beans.
Familiarize your family with these dangers and keep hazards separate from pet areas and away from pets without supervision.
Be sure to keep food and water dishes refreshed and clear of any residue from cleaning products, especially those that are applied using a spray bottle. Just a small amount of airborne chemical residue can cause a pet's water and food bowls to become contaminated.
